Frequently Asked Questions

What is BinSOCK?

BinSOCK is a stretch-fit bin lid cover designed to block flies from entering your wheelie bin, preventing maggot infestations before they begin. It was created by a Queensland family who tried every product on the market and still had the problem — so they designed something that actually works.

What bin sizes does BinSOCK fit?

BinSOCK is compatible with 120L, 140L, and 240L general-waste wheelie bins — the most common sizes used by Australian households and businesses.

Is BinSOCK chemical-free?

Yes. BinSOCK contains no chemicals, sprays, or baits. It works purely by creating a physical barrier that stops flies from getting into your bin in the first place.

How does BinSOCK work?

BinSOCK stretches over your bin lid to create a secure, fly-proof seal. Flies can't get in, so they can't lay eggs, and maggots never get a chance to develop. It fits in seconds and stays in place.

How do I put BinSOCK on my bin?

Simply stretch BinSOCK over your bin lid — it's designed to fit snugly without any tools or complicated steps. Most people have it on in under 30 seconds.

Is BinSOCK reusable?

No. BinSOCK is a disposable product designed for single use. It is built to be durable for up to 3 months in full sun, making it ideal for year-round use in Australian conditions. Once it has reached the end of its life, simply replace it with a new one.

Which pack should I choose?

  • Single Pack — perfect for trying BinSOCK for the first time or protecting one bin.
  • Family Pack (3-pack) — ideal for households with multiple bins.
  • Street Pack (4-pack) — great for stocking up or sharing with neighbours.
  • Business Pack (10-pack) — designed for workplaces, facilities, and commercial properties managing multiple bins.

Where is BinSOCK designed and made?

BinSOCK was designed and created in Australia by a family-owned business based in Logan, Queensland. It is manufactured in China.

What could be causing maggots in my bin even after fitting BinSOCK?

If you're still finding maggots after fitting BinSOCK, there are a few possible causes to check:

  • Eggs were already present before fitting — if flies had already laid eggs in your bin before BinSOCK was applied, maggots may still hatch. Clean your bin thoroughly before fitting a new BinSOCK.
  • The cover has a gap or isn't fully sealed — check that BinSOCK is stretched evenly over the entire lid with no gaps around the edges where flies could enter.
  • The BinSOCK is damaged or worn — if your BinSOCK has been in use for more than 3 months or has been exposed to damage, it may no longer provide a complete seal. Replace it with a new one.
  • Flies entering through indoor rubbish bins — a common and often overlooked cause is flies laying eggs in your indoor kitchen or household bin before the rubbish is transferred to the wheelie bin outside. If this is happening, the maggots are already present in the waste before it reaches your wheelie bin. Using a lidded indoor bin and disposing of food scraps promptly can help prevent this.
  • Flies are entering through the bin body — in rare cases, older bins with cracks or damage in the body (not the lid) may allow flies to enter from below. Inspect your bin for any damage.
